Holiday Card Worshop
ype: Creativity and Service As well as adding a new member to our group (welcome Birgit!) we've had a great start to our CAS project by making Christmas Cards to give to a nursing home from the Grand Valley. We want to give a huge thanks to Office Max, Office Depot, Target, Michael's and Mrs. Raper for donating a whole bunch of supplies and making this project possible. Thursday of last week my group decided it was time to put our plan into action and Mindy got permission from Mrs. Raper to use the art room the following Monday for our project. Cheyenne and Birgit posted a flyer for volunteers to join us on social media. Birgit and I were in charge of contacting businesses and asking for donations. Cheyenne was in charge of contacting a nursing home for our project to adopt. And Mindy was in charge of coming up with card designs. We had a successful day of making 60 cards and we plan to get together again and make another 40 the following week. Some strengths of this small section of our project were the enthusiasm it was received with from our sponsors, and the speed in which we were able to plan this Holiday Card Workshop (4 days). Some weaknesses were probably the amount of people we were able to recruit to attend the workshop. For the future, a more effective method of recruiting needs to be stressed. Overall, this is a fun and relatively simple way to share holiday joy with others. To further extend the influence this project will have, we plan on choosing one particular nursing home the project will benefit, and also to plan a holiday activity to share with the people in the nursing homes (carol-singing) comes to mind. We will then give the cards out to our friends at the nursing home at the very end. Here's some pictures of yesterday:
